+ Introduction to Cattle
During the initial introduction to cattle work the main focus in on building the horse's confidence. Quite a bit of time is spent simply tracking the cow first in the Round Pen and then in the Arena. They learn to stay on a cow and mimic the cow's movements. |

+ Specialization
After the initial introduction to Cattle the owner may choose an area of specialization. We can start your horse for Reined Cow, Cutting, Team Penning/Sorting, Roping, or all-around Ranch work. |

+ Training with a Purpose
Cattle gives us the opportunity to practice what I like to call "training with a purpose". Working a cow gives a horse a reason to stop, turn, rollback, or move foreword. It helps train the horse's attention span and creates a more diverse and interesting environment for the horse to learn in. Often if I have a reining horse that is having trouble with his rollbacks or slide stops I will take him to work cows for a week or two to break things up and it usually solves the problem with no frustration, fighting, or monotonous arena work. |
